An Exploration Into The Most Well Known Commandments of YHWH
Sis YahChannah

Ps 12:6
6 The words of YHWH are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

YHWH's words are tahowr (unadulterated and uncontaminated), as silver refined, purified and clarified seven times to perfection.

The Ten Commandments
Exod 20:1-17

And Elohim spoke all these words, saying,

1.  I am YHWH your Elohim, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me.

We must learn what it means to have other gods before Him. That which we serve is our god.

2. You shall not make for yourselves any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: You shall not bow  yourselves down to them, nor serve them: for I YHWH, your Elohim am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Does this mean our photographs? Are we not to make them or are we just not to make them and 'bow down to them', give them too much importance?

3. You shall not take the name of YHWH your Elohim in vain; for YHWH will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.

This does not just refer to using His Name as what is called a 'curse word'. This refers to using His Name or the fact of His being in an empty and worthless manner. To use Him and His Name to build  huge churches to take in profit could fit well here.

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Six days shall you labor, and do all your work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of YHWH, your Elohim: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor the stranger that is within your gates: For in six days YHWH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them , and rested the seventh day: wherefore YHWH blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

This does not mean just one day out of seven. It refers to the seventh day, the day upon which YHWH ended His creation.

5.  Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long upon the land which YHWH, your Elohim gives you.

6. You shall not do murder.

This should be further clarified as to how this applies to self defense, war etc.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

Adultery does not simply refer to sex. Israel committed adultery against YHWH by going after foreign gods.

8. You shall not steal.

We can steal in many ways. Do we steal time and honor from YHWH?

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Being silent when you should speak is just as damaging at times as speaking when you should remain silent.

10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is your  neighbor's.

There are many things to be added to this page and I ask for your contributions. YHWH's words are pure. Let us purify our understanding.
