"bro yeri,
do you know why koresh and those of his group were
singled out?
There were two reasons we were
told why this particular group was singled out:
1. The story was told that they had
'hacked' into the computer system of the ATF and FBI and had 'uncovered'
plans.
2. (This is the one we believe to be
true) The Davidians at Mt. Carmel had applied for an allodial title for
their property, which if obtained, would have given them sovereignty as long
as they were on Mt Carmel. There are/were rules for receiving this land
titles. Some of them (Branch Davidians) had to be 'in residence' on the
property, without lapse, for a certain period of time or they would have
lost the opportunity for this title unless they began over again. The
deadline date was April 19th, the 51st day.. the day they were burned to
death.
was it an intolerance by the community?
Yeri and I lived very close to Waco at
the time this was taking place and visited the area many times. We talked to
the neighbors, the storekeeper and was told by all we spoke to that these
people at Mt. Carmel were good neighbors and that they felt no threat from
them.
i watched a pbs investigative report program
about the incident and he (koresh) was quoting something out of deuterotomy
to the fbi guy - don't recall which verses. do you know what it was?
d. we have transcripts and hours
upon hours of tape, audio and video but I cannot remember without going
through them. Maybe I will find/take time to do that some time.
although i thought the handling of the whole incident
was okay before i watched the program, after the program i had doubts.
it didn't go into enough specifics about it in order for me to reach a
definite "that shouldn't have been done" conclusion, but it raised
questions. i guess that's considered "fair" reporting.
if the person watching is interested enough they'll continue to search out
the answers. didn't you have a link or provide a link about it at
qumranbet? i think e. looked at the info at one point - looking over
his shoulder, it was pretty graphic and i didn't read the whole thing.
Thank you for reminding me of that
link.. I must find it again. It was lost in the big crash of the site. There
are many who have not/ will not forget the Waco tragedy. We are two of
those. We were there and talked to the military, the Texas Rangers, the
McClendon County Sheriff, the Davidians, the press. We had weapons pushed in
our faces and were told to get off of any of the little backroads. We were
told by Texas Rangers that they did not know why they were there, that it
was the Feds 'dog and pony show'. We stood at a fence and spoke to U.S.
Military men (who were not there) sitting in the doors of non-existent
'black helicopters' that were not there either.. according to the media in
their pro-gov bias.
I personally talked to a policeman who
lived in our town, shopped at my store that had been called up for special
duty because of Waco, who told me 'the plan' was to get in and kill the
leaders quick, not let any of them live to talk. The little thing that
fouled the plan, he said, was that the ATF had info that on the Sabbath, the
men were in one area, the women and children in another and that all guns
would be put away in closets for the Sabbath. They decided that Sabbath was
a great day to assault them so they went in bright eyed and ready to kill on
'SUNDAY' morning.
I am definitely biased. I see it as a
mindless slaughter. Before Waco, I would have sworn that 'our boys' would
never fire on their own countrymen.. I was wrong, they not only (the Feds,
the US Military, the Texas Rangers and the County Law Enforcement) fired on
them but burned them to death as the press watched and lied. There was a
local radio station that tried to dig out truth and find out what the 'other
side' of the story was. These programs we have on tape as well as the press
releases of the FBI. We also have audio of Koresh, transcripts of the
'terrible' twisted story of the interview in the Fort Worth paper.
We do not agree with the doctrine of the
Branch Davidians (did not even know what it was then) except for Sabbath but
they should not have been burned to death in their own home/church.
Don't even get me started about the old
man (with the land grant) in CA. who was shot down in cold blood within his
home by the Feds. Or the Weavers, who went through hell because they dared
to be different. (The sniper who gunned down Vickie Weaver through the
window of her home (while she held her baby in her arms) was also at Waco
and still is waiting to be at the next slaughter, I fear)
Sorry to 'run on' but this it a subject
that brings tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. I lost my innocent
view of my own country at Waco.
